San Felipe remembered
Published August 30, 2009
Y si quieren saber de nuestro pasado. . . Pues aqui está.
We are at a point in our lives where we can leave a recorded history of our childhood in this historic barrio of ours. We’ve lived it through the thirties, the 40s, the 50s, and even through the late 60s; we lived it through that beautiful moment that was once, the San Felipe Independent School District.
Many of you may not have seen the press releases in the Del Rio News Herald, which announced our intention to publish a book on San Felipe. This cannot be done without your participation, for we are merely the paper and pen; you are the real authors of this literary work.
Sin Ti no se puede hacer este proyecto. The pride and the glory that was ours through our childhood, should be documented for generations to come; it will be the nostalgia of your experiences through your own words. This is a legacy that you can leave your great-grand children, a legacy that they can look at 50 years from now and relive, through your own words, how your childhood was, during that most wonderful time.
We survived the after-shocks of the Great Depression; we survived World War 11. We survived these, not in spite of them, but because of them; for we had an upbringing that made us resilient as the family unit was very strong then.
Let us preserve these memories in a tribute to our community, let it live through the generations, as written by you. Send us your memories and nostalgic experiences; share them with us now; and share them with generations to come, long after we are gone.
Your participation may consist of one paragraph or up to 500 hundred words. The publication of your book is on a tight schedule, so please submit your part in the book as soon as possible... do not procrastinate, participate!
Your participation is invaluable to the book; you truly are the authors of this historic book.
Donations are welcomed in any denomination and are tax deductible. All donations will be exclusively used for publishing costs; we, the publishing team, are volunteering our efforts.

Our youth reigns in our hearts,
The nostalgia of it reigns in our minds
Therefore, as long as we are of sound mind; our youth reigns
