City council meeting Tuesday
Published February 8, 2010
Reports on how two local museums spend city funds, construction of a new City Hall and operations at the city’s municipal court are on the agenda of Tuesday night’s city council meeting.
The meeting of the Del Rio City Council is open to the public and is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 109 W. Broadway St.
The directors of two local museums will discuss their organizations with city council during the “Visitors” section of the council agenda.
Lee Lincoln, executive director of the Whitehead Memorial Museum, is on the agenda to present her quarterly report on the museum’s use of the hotel occupancy tax monies given to the museum by the city.
A similar report on the use of city hotel occupancy tax funds will be presented by James S. Long, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of the Laughlin Heritage Foundation Museum.
The council during its meeting Tuesday night also will consider four resolutions.
Those resolutions deal with authorizing the city manager to apply for funds provided by the Recovery Act: Justice Assistance Grant Program 2010 and to execute a license agreement between the city and U.S. Customs and Border Protection for the clearing of brush on city land under the international bridge.
The council heard a presentation on the brush-clearing project from local U.S. Border Patrol officials during the council’s Jan. 26 meeting.
The council also will consider a resolution “expressing official intent to reimburse costs of project from obligations to be issued by the city of Del Rio” and a resolution authorizing the city manager to negotiate and award a professional services contract with the firm of Tag International for design documents for the construction of a new City Hall building.
Under the “Other Business” section of the council’s agenda, council members are set to receive a report from Pat Hernandez, administrative director of the city’s municipal court system.
Hernandez is on the agenda to discuss municipal court operations, including internal procedures and collection of delinquent accounts.
There is no executive session scheduled as part of the council meeting Tuesday night.
