Josephine Alice McDonald Wehner
Josephine Alice McDonald Wehner, 86, passed peacefully away on Sunday evening, the 13th of September 2009. Jo Alice was born on the 9th of October 1922 in Del Rio, Texas, daughter of John Arthur McDonald and Alice Elizabeth Geib. She grew up in Del Rio, graduating from Del Rio High School as salutatorian in 1939.
Jo Alice married Ernest Lee (Pete) Wehner on Valentine's Day, 1942. Following the War, they moved to Houston in 1946 where they reared their three children. Jo Alice loved her family and friends, traveling, flowers, arts and crafts, the Houston Astros and Aggie football. She was a National Flower Show Judge and a member of The Blue Bird Circle, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution and the First Methodist Church of Houston. She was a member of the Houston Racquet Club and River Oaks Country Club.
Jo Alice is preceded in death by her parents and devoted husband, Pete. She is survived by her son Dr. Arthur Lee (Skip) Wehner and wife Susan of Boise, Idaho, daughters Diane Weigle and husband Bob of Houston and Molly Marks and husband Miles of College Station, grandchildren Anne Weigle McGarraugh and husband John-Michael of San Antonio, Bradley Wehner of College Station, Amy Weigle Dybala and husband David of Houston, Jennifer Wehner Bradley and husband Jeff of Allen, Texas, Elizabeth Marks Meeh and husband Josh of Sugar Land and Margaret Marks of College Station, and great grandchildren Josie, Amelia and Grayson McGarraugh, Andrew Dybala, Anna Claire Bradley, and Cade Meeh. She is also survived by Patricia Hill Wehner of College Station, her sisters Jerry Stone and Norma Lowry of Del Rio and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at ten o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the 17th of September, at the First Methodist Church of Houston, 1320 Main Street in Houston. The graveside service and interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
