A long time ago we were Jews

Published October 18, 2009

Part 1 of 3

This phrase is the most common phrase that many researchers hear when interviewing elderly folks. When asked if they are Jews or did they hear conversations by their parents that they were Jews, their answer is, “Hace mucho eramos Judios.”(A long time ago we were Jews.)

As you may already know, for decades I have been an avid explorer of the secret behind the people who lived here in the Del Rio and surrounding area which includes both sides of the Border especially around the 16th century.

I have read hundreds of documents that have continued to feed my curiosity and my desire to share this knowledge with you. There are some people including some family members that think that what I am writing is of little or no value.

As long as I can entice one or two people to investigate their heritage, I know that I have done what the Lord has asked me to do. The Bible confirms that He promotes and supports documentation and that this documentation will set us free by telling us the truth.

Why is it important to know who lived here hundreds of years ago?

Why should we care? How will we benefit from this new knowledge and this new awareness?

To me it is important to know who lived here in Del Rio and the surrounding area because many of our ancestors came from “around the area!” It is important to know who the people were that laid the foundation for us to be free, happy, healthy and prosperous.

By being successful in all that we do will honor their memory. They sacrificed so much and I believe that we must not squander the great opportunities and privileges that endowed our lives.

Our forefathers wanted more for us than what they had for themselves. They provided us with the great opportunity to educate ourselves. We honor our parents by helping to build a better society and a better community. They were givers and not takers.

Many of us are takers and we still do not know how to serve our community without payment. When a society breeds takers this society or town will not flourish. When a society encourages laziness and gives people an abundance of free advantages without having to be responsible, we are breeding crime and poverty.

If many of you feel that what I having been suggesting is true, then we must make sure that we live up to our name and heritage!!

Jews have always been known as great givers, great business people, savers and lovers of historical preservation (Bible). Jesus Christ was a Jew who gave the ultimate price, His life!!

We are His heirs! We should be aware of our heritage and all its implications. Our heritage is part of our soul, body and mind. The more we know about the truth of our ancestors, the better we will understand our culture and why we value certain things and why we should all come together for the common good.

Understanding the history of our ancestors will help to better prepare you to create a healthier environment for your family, friends and neighbors.

It is such a terrific feeling when you come to the ultimate realization that our culture is beautiful. Our heritage is magnificent. Our values are strong because we come from a strong breed of people that has sustained persecution beyond belief.

Jews are strong. Jews are creative and have a powerful sense of loyalty to one another. Somewhere along the way, many of us lost this sense of loyalty to one another.

Loyalty is what binds people, families, neighbors, and communities together. When times were tough, they gathered together and moved forward. They did not sit still and they never let any moss grow under their feet.

We are their descendants and I believe we all need to show that our self esteem, our strength, our conscious, our love, our ego, and our loyalty is back to form a union that will create a unified Del Rio whose goal is to provide a safe and healthy environment for all its citizens.

If the truth had not been told to us, and if history shortchanged us by demeaning our heritage, culture and even our language, how can our children learn to be proud of whom they are? Another factor is, what part will they play in the scheme of things if we are not candid and truthful?

Texas History was written from one perspective. Texas historians viewed Texas history and its development from a view that sometimes glorified the winners and diminished the victims who had lived in Texas for well over three hundred years.

I hope that I have laid some ground-work that will help the reader enjoy, confirm and possibly accept some of my premises. A new biological discovery will confirm that “hace mucho eramos Judios!”

The next two articles will reveal some astonishing new discoveries that will confirm what I have been writing about these past two years. It is an article published in the SMITHSONIAN, OCTOBER, 2008.

It is a powerful discovery! Thank you for reading my articles and for sharing with one another. Thank you for telling me that you enjoy them. Please also tell the Del Rio News-Herald. This will help encourage them to continue publishing my articles.

Thank you for your favor.
