Leroy Young, Sr.
Leroy Young, Sr., age 89, entered into rest on November 19, 2009, in Del Rio, Texas. He was born August 22, 1920 in Del Rio, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Epsie D. Young; parents, James and Beulah Young; brothers, Aresteen Young, Ernest Young, Earl Young, Emmett Young, Cubert Young; sister, Bertha Hawkins.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Leroy Young Jr., and wife Carmen; Robert Lee Young and wife Janelle, of Sacramento, CA.; Jimmie Louis Young and wife Glenda of Humble, TX.; Lee Roy Young of Dallas, TX..; daughters, Barbara Young Hickey and husband Herbert of Raleigh, N.C., and Gloria Shakir; sisters, Margaret Elliott and husband Grady of Austin, TX., Vera Keanney of Washington, D.C., Barbara Young of San Antonio, TX.; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Rosas and husband Manuel, Leroy Young III, Roderick Young, Lloyd Hickey, Toni Hickey, Brian Hickey, Lori La Terra, Katherine Williams and husband Derrick, Jimmie Young Jr., and Jym Lou D. Young; 17 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren, Aneesah El Shabazz, Qaa'im Jihad, Johnathan Bridges, Anthony Lee Young, and Kristen Marie Young; and a special niece, Christine Wheeler.
Gentlemen left with the honor of pallbearers: Leroy Young III, Lloyd J. Hickey, William Jackson, Jimmie L. Young Jr., Brian C. Hickey, and Jym Lou D. Young.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 23, 2009, 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Chapel of Remembrance.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2009, 10:00 a.m., Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Interment to follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy and American Legion Post #595.
