AUSTIN - Texas Department of State Health Services announces H1N1 flu vaccine clinic in Val Verde County

Dr. Sandra Guerra, DSHS Region 8 medical director and the public health authority for Val Verde County, announces that there will be an H1N1 flu vaccine clinic for people who are at high risk for getting H1N1 flu.

There is no cost for getting the H1N1 flu vaccine at this clinic.

The clinic's purpose is to protect people in Val Verde County who are at high risk for getting the H1N1 flu.

The clinic will be held at:

Del Rio Civic Center

1915 Veterans Blvd.

Dec 9

1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The following specific high risk groups are eligible:

• pregnant women

• healthcare and emergency medial services personnel (credentials required: license, name tag, etc.)

• Children from 6 months through 4 years of age

• school-aged children

• people age 5 though 64 years wit high risk medical conditions

• people who live with or care for babies younger than 6 months of age

People who have questions should call 2-1-1. There is also a website for the state of Texas, TexasFlu.org
