The Mexican Consulate in Del Rio, in coordination with Quad Counties Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, presented a new program whose main goal is to improve the quality of life for Mexican nationals living inside the Mexican Consulate jurisdiction and in Ciudad Acuña, Coah., Mex.

The program, known as Ventanilla de Salud (Health Window) is an initiative from the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME), and according to a press release by Elizabeth Wong, IME representative, “The Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME) promotes and directs the development and overall policies of “Ventanilla de Salud Program”, throughout the Mexican Consular network. Some of IME’s specific functions include overseeing quality standards and developing guidelines.”
Wong informed the U.S. and Mexico media present at the conference that this service will not only be offered in Del Rio but also in the 12 counties it covers.

The Ventanilla de Salud program started officially Tuesday, but will offer its services permanently to the public every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mexican Consulate, located in South Park Plaza 2398 Spur 239.
