Football contests open up beginning Sunday
Published July 31, 2010
It’s that time of year again!
The Del Rio News-Herald’s annual football contests, Fearless Forecasters and the Last Man Standing Fantasy Football League, will begin accepting applicants Sunday, Aug. 1.
The only spots guaranteed from last year are those of the contest champions and the runners-up.
That means that Ramiro “Speedy” Gonzalez, last year’s Fearless Forecasters champion, and Albert Ramon, last year’s Fantasy Football champion, will be invited back to defend their title.
Joining them, should they accept the invitation, would be Ricky Avalos and Jim Sutton, who each finished second in the Fearless Forecasters and Fantasy Football contests respectively.
All other spots are first come, first served.
There are 10 spots available in the Fearless Forecasters competition and 12 spots available in the Fantasy Football league.
Persons interested in competing in either contest can call (830) 775-1551, ext. 229, or email a request to participate to sports(at)delrionewsherald.com.
Please leave your name and a phone number so you can be contacted and approved for competition.
Participants in the Fantasy Football league are also asked to provide a valid email address that they check on a regular basis.
Once the request for participation is received competitors will receive a confirming email or phone call from News-Herald Sports Editor Brian Argabright.
The contests are open to men and women, ages 18 and above. Prizes will be awarded to the top two finishers in each contest.
