Level II hearing on school agenda tonight

Published November 16, 2009

The San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees will meet tonight.

The meeting is open to the public and begins at 7 p.m. in the district's administration building, 205 Memorial Drive.

Topping tonight's agenda is the recognition of this year's Gold Performance Acknowledgements by superintendent Kelt Cooper.

The board will also hear from its architects on the Garfield Elementary replacement campus and Del Rio High School science labs, both of which are under construction.

Then, North Heights Elementary will present its campus highlights.

John Rahlfs is slated to make a presentation to the board regarding the district's health insurance fund.

After approving a number of donations, the board is set to tackle five items on its discussion/action agenda.

Those include:

• Consideration to approve the Supplemental Educational Services Providers at the Del Rio High School and the San Felipe Memorial Middle School.

• Consideration to approve the administrative/professional job classification.

• Consideration to approve the revised 2009-10 Organizational Chart.

• Consideration to approve SFDRCISD Head Start standards written plan and procedures.

• Consideration to vote and approve the Val Verde Appraisal District Board of Trustees.

The board is also scheduled to hold a closed session to discuss personnel matters, among other issues.

Specifically, the board's agenda notes two level II hearings involving district employees Monica P. Fernandez and Deborah D. Cantu.

According to district policy, and state law, employees of SFDRCISD are granted a procedure to air grievances about working conditions, salary and other issues to superiors.

If satisfactory results are not obtained from an immediate supervisor, employees are granted a hearing with the school board in seeking a resolution.

The board agenda indicates there might be discussion on the issues presented by Fernandez and Cantu following the closed session.
