Tigerettes win district opener

The Brackett Tigerettes varsity basketball team began their district season on the right foot.
The girls defeated La Pryor, 56-32, to win their district opener.
Brackett jumped out to a 13-2 lead, and led 30-11 at halftime. The Tigerettes never scored less than 11 points in any quarter while the Lady Bulldogs managed to break double digits only in the fourth quarter.
Julie Castillo led Brackett’s scorers with 13 points while Bailee Allen added 11. Nena Molinar had nine points, Daphne Hunt had eight, Hayley Harris and Bianca Martinez each had five, Meghann Davis had three and Veronica Talamantes rounded out the scoring with two points.
La Pryor was led by Kimberly Maldonado, who scored six points on a pair of 3’s. Michelle Pargas and Kendriah Flores each scored five and Lexi Maldonado, Kenisha Martinez, Marah Perez and Julia Velasquez rounded out the scoring with four points each.
