Alice I. Seargeant

Alice I. Seargeant of Fort Clark Springs in Brackettville, Texas, was called to the arms of the Lord at the age of 93 on December 11, 2009.

Alice was born in Centerville, Pennsylvania, to Ralph and Elva Martin.

Alice and her family moved to Texas when she was young. Alice attended school in Garwood, Texas, and upon her graduation from high school she attended Southwest Texas State Teacher's College in San Marcos, Texas.

Alice married Albert J. Seargeant Jr. on December 29, 1943. They had a son and two daughters to bless their lives. Albert's Air Force duties called the family to different locations, and Alice taught school in most of them.

Alice and Albert finally settled down to live in Brackettville, where she taught school for many years. Alice was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Brackettville. She and Albert were among the first homeowners in Unit One at Fort Clark Springs, where she continued to live.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sisters Ellen Battelle and Edith Tribby.

Alice leaves behind many loved ones: son Albert James Seargeant III and wife Ann of Edgewood, New Mexico; daughter Judith Lynn Blackburn and husband Jim of Stephenville, Texas; daughter Catherine Ann Cano and husband Al of San Antonio, Texas; brother Samuel Martin and wife Jennie; and sisters-in-law Jean Seargeant and Nell Walker. Other loved ones include: 7 grandchildren--Melissa, Mark, Matt, Bobby, Travis, Rachel, and Nicole; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend Wally Cooper; and her extended family and friends at Ft. Clark Springs and Brackettville.

Alice's family expresses thanks to all who have shown their love and attention through the years. The family also thanks Dr. Luz and Jill and Dr.

Lindsey for their care during her illness. Many thanks are extended to the nurses at Val Verde Regional Medical Center for the excellent care given to Alice during her stay and to the wonderful staff of Val Verde Hospice during her final days with us.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the

United Methodist Church in Brackettville with Pastor Jean Reardon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 93, Brackettville, Texas 78832.

Arrangements under the direction of G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home, 114 Fletcher Dr. Del Rio, TX 78840. PH 830-775-2000.
