A September start?

If everything goes as planned, the Del Rio High School Queens volleyball team could return to practice as early as Sept. 7 and could begin playing meaningful matches beginning Sept. 14.

If Del Rio High School sports start at all this year, it won’t be until the first week in September.

Texas’ University Interscholastic League (UIL) released modifications to its guidelines for the 2020-21 school year for both athletics as well as music. While schools in classes 1A to 4A appear to be able to start on time, Aug. 3, schools that are class 5A or 6A, which Del Rio is, would not be able to begin competing until Sept. 7.
