There has been a change involving Monday night's professional baseball game at Roosevelt Park.
According to Eddie Larkan, the game's organizer, the Houston Apollos will not be playing and have been replaced by the White Sands Pupfish of Alamogordo, N.M.
The Pupfish will face the Alpine Cowboys. Both teams are part of the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs.
The game is still scheduled for 7 p.m. with a pre-game show scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
The pre-game will feature members of The Upstagers performing a variety of baseball-related skits and songs. There will also be a ceremony to honor the 1962 Del Rio Little League team that competed in the Little League World Series.
Larvell Blanks, a member of that team and a former Major League Baseball player, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Fans planning on attending the game may still purchase tickets from the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce offices or at both branches of The Bank & Trust. Tickets are $6 each.
Parking will be limited near the park, so fans are being given the option of parking near the Joe Ramos Center, off East De La Rosa Street, and being shuttled to the game.
According to Larkan, shuttle buses will run to and from the center and the park beginning at 5:45 p.m. and will continue until 30 minutes after the game's final out.
