New golf course superintendent/pro

Del Rioan Travis Mariner was named the new golf course superintendent and head golf pro for the San Felipe Springs Golf Course Aug. 17. Mariner, who played for the Del Rio Rams golf team for four years, said he grew up around the course, picking up his first club when he was seven years old.

The San Felipe Springs Golf Course has been Travis Mariner’s home away from home for three decades. Now, he’ll have a big say in how his “home” is treated.

Mariner, 37, is the new golf course superintendent and head golf pro for the San Felipe Springs course. He’s held the position since Aug. 17 and said he’s happy to be able to give back to the community that’s give him so much.
