Our mother Lilia Jimenez García, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, and aunt went home to our heavenly father on September 3, 2020.

Our mother is gone but she will never be forgotten.

Our mother Lilia Jimenez García, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, and aunt went home to our heavenly father on September 3, 2020. Born on November 14, 1935 to Abelina and Cruz Jimenez in San Carlos, Coahuila, Mexico, she was the second eldest of five sisters, Las Cinco Hermanas, who were well known as they grew up with their entrepreneurial parents and leaders in the Acuña community, especially the Catholic church. Our mother Lilia with her angelic voice, sang her way into the hearts of many, singing in her youth and later in life with Mariachi groups, trios and her beloved choir at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was so proud of the Guadalupanas that she beamed whenever she spoke of their choir. Our mother Lilia was especially proud of the times the group sang Las Mañanitas to many mothers, grandmothers, and aunts on Mother’s Day.

Lilia married the love of her life, Julio T. García on February 23, 1955 and began their family together. As pillars of the Del Rio community, Lilia managed the household and later worked in the public schools feeding thousands of children. She had great joy working in the schools and developed a passion catering to local organizations, families and agencies. As an entrepreneur herself, our mother Lilia would help our father Julio, along with brothers Miguel, Pedro, José and Julio, Jr., establish the Julio’s Corn Chips and Seasoning enterprise; a local business highly recognized and regarded throughout the city, state, country and the world. Our parents, Lilia and Julio were married for 59 years, and she now joins our father Julio, who passed away December 28, 2014.

Our mother Lilia joins her eldest sister Beatriz (Javier+) Garcia, younger sisters Pura (Filomeno+) Salazar and Carmen (Manuel+) Salazar, her young brother and parents in death. Lilia is survived by her sister Norma Villareal.

Our mother Lilia was mother to 10 children, 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children Guadalupe (Rey+) Saucedo of Del Rio, TX, Oralia (Israel) Uriegas of San Antonio, TX, Dr. Enedina Vázquez and husband Dr. Luis Vázquez of Las Cruces, NM, María Lilia (Mica) García of Del Rio, TX, José Angel García and wife Brenda of San Angelo, TX, Miguel Angel García and his wife Angie of Del Rio, TX, María Laura García of Waldorf, MD, Pedro García and Carolina Martinez of Del Rio, TX and long-time and cherished family friend, Anna de la Rosa of Del Rio, TX. Our mother Lilia is survived by 18 grandchildren, Sandra Saucedo, Rey Saucedo, Jr., María Smith, José Martin Saucedo, Bernarda Naya Pacheco, Martin García, Jr., Israel Uriegas, Jr., María Uriegas, Amado Vázquez, Vanessa García Goodman, José García, II, Adriana García, Leeanna García, Julian García, Nereida Findley, Miguel Angel García, II, Savanah Rivera, Asa Elias Geiger, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Our mother joins our loved ones who preceded her in death - son Martin and daughter-in-law Gloria García, son Julio T. García, Jr., and grandsons Mark García and Luis Antonio Vázquez, II.

Although our mother Lilia has left us and we will no longer see her smiling face but, in our dreams, her memory will stay in our hearts forever and there will be no day that passes that we will not think of her. We are consoled that she is watching us from above, smiling and feeling proud of the magnificent legacy she left on earth. Now she will sing with the angels. We will always remember – Reza por Ri.
