D.C. " Perk" Perkins 83 of Del Rio, passed away January 16, 2012. Born January 24, 1928 in Ft. Sumner, New Mexico, Delbert Clayton Perkins was the son of the late John Thomas and Ruby Anna (Jackson) Perkins. On January 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, receiving the WW II Victory Medal, and was discharged from active duty in November 1947. Then in 1950 he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company, where he was employed as a welder and later as a gang pusher. In 1985 he retired from Phillips and moved to his place at Lake Amistad. Perk was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, a daughter, a grandson, and a great grandson. His survivors include his loving wife of (38) years, Mary K. of Amistad Acres, his children Doris and Brad Roberts of Odessa, Dan and Marsha Perkins of Kerrville, Jamie Perkins of Amistad Acres, Ginger and Bill Harrison of Del Rio, Basil and Pat Mowdy of Amistad Acres, Sue Rolando of Cameron, and John and Ann Mowdy of Odessa. His surviving grandchildren are Lori and Marcus Hostos, Larry and Ludeana Roberts, Heather and Michael Mitchell, Troy and Juanita Perkins, Jamie Perkins, Robert and Sandra Spriggs, and Ronda and Wayne Cannaday, plus numerous great grandchildren; also, special family friend David McCarty, who was always ready and willing to help them anytime.
A Memorial service celebration will be held on Friday, 1:00P.M, January 20, 2012 at G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Gerald L. Prather, Chaplain, Maj. Gen., USAF (Ret.) officiating.
