This photo of the Amistad Dam job site, taken for contractor Perini on July 18, 1966, shows three cranes working in the construction of the structure. The flow of the river was changed to the Mexico side during the construction of the U.S. side and then to the U.S. during the construction of the Mexico side. The gates of the dam were closed in 1968, and the dedication ceremony took place on Sept. 8, 1969.
