- Demetrius D. Childs, 26, a resident of the 620 block W. 3rd St., was arrested at 2:32 a.m. Aug. 8 at Stripes, 203 Veterans Blvd., and charged with possession of marijuana, less than two ounces, a Class B misdemeanor.

Domestic violence

- Del Rio police officers responded to a domestic disturbance at 11:23 a.m. Aug. 7 at the 100 block of Jaime Way. The man and woman involved in the disturbance both claimed the other assaulted them. The woman claimed the man threw a hard hat at her and the man claimed the woman punched him on his arm. Both parties wished to pursue charges against the other.

A man pleaded guilty to failing to stop and render aid after he struck an 81-year-old man with his vehicle and fled the scene in October 2016.

Army M. Sgt. Maliek Kearney could be facing life in prison after the 2015 murder of Karlyn Ramirez

Army M. Sgt. Maliek Kearney, the husband of a Del Rio woman who was murdered in 2015, was found guilty Thursday of crossing state lines to commit domestic violence resulting in the death of his wife.

- Jesse Lee Garza, 26, a resident of the 310 block E. Thomas St., was arrested Aug. 6 at 205 E. Second St. and charged with criminal trespass, a Class A misdemeanor.

- A Casas Del Rio employee told police they had additional information at 2:32 p.m. Aug. 1 about a June arson that occurred at the development. The employee requested extra patrol for the area and said several juveniles were in the area when the fire was repo

Criminal Mischief

- Robert Gonzalez a resident of the 400 block of Cano Street, told police at 7:12 a.m. on Thursday someone had slashed all four of his truck’s tires. Gonzalez told police an unknown person had slashed the tires of his silver Dodge Ram 1500, causing $900 worth of damage, between 4:57 a.m. and 7:12 a.m.

- Rosendo Sorola, 33, who listed himself as homeless, was arrested at 2:28 a.m. Thursday at 110 Playground Walk and charged with assault causes bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor, and criminal trespassing of a habitation, a Class A misdemeanor.

A woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with a child after police received a call about a woman sleeping in a vehicle parked in a fast food restaurant’s drive-thru.

- Kendall King, a resident of the 900 block of Griner Street, reported at 7:17 p.m. on June 17 that an unknown person had kicked in a back door of King’s residence, causing $100 in damage. King reported the incident occurred between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. the same day.

- Gerardo Salazar, a resident of the 100 block of Fokes Street, reported at 9:03 a.m. on July 11 that someone had removed a wheelbarrow and 10-foot ladder from his yard.

A Del Rio man was arrested by Val Verde County sheriff’s deputies and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, following a stabbing incident occurring Friday morning.

Terroristic threats

Maria Diaz reported at 7:50 a.m. on July 8 at the 300 block of Bean Street that a known male had made a terroristic threat toward her. According to a police report, Diaz waved down a police officer to report that the man threatened to punch her after a work-related dispute.

The following misdemeanor and warrant arrests were among those made recently by the Del Rio Police Department:

- Jose Alfredo Reyes, 34, who listed his address as Motel 6, 2115 Veterans Blvd., was arrested at 11:26 p.m. on July 6 at the motel and charged with criminal mischief, between $100 and $750, a Class B misdemeanor. According to the report, Sr. Officer Mario Cervantes responded to a complaint made by a Motel 6 employee who claimed the suspect was attempting to enter a motel room by kicking the door repeatedly, causing $320 worth of damage.

Two suspects, allegedly belonging to the Los Angeles based Mara Salvatrucha 13 or MS-13 were arrested last week in different incidents by U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass station.

Criminal mischief

- Denise Garcia, a resident of the 100 block of Hill Street, reported 10:14 p.m. on June 26 that unknown individuals had intentionally caused damage to her vehicle. Garcia reported that her daughter, who was out walking their dogs at the time, witnessed individuals shatter a window of Garcia’s Dodge Caravan. The daughter said she saw a black or green vehicle pull up next to the Caravan and then heard a loud noise before the vehicle fled the scene south on Las Vacas Street. Garcia reported $500 worth of damage.

-Mario Huerta, 63, 200 block W. Garza St., was arrested at 5:35 p.m. Saturday at the 300 block of Canal Street for criminal trespassing, a Class B misdemeanor.

Child endangerment

- Officers were dispatched at 7:30 p.m. on June 20 to the 400 block of Arteaga Street where an Emergency Medical Service team was assisting a person who had fallen down. EMS requested officers’ presence due to unsatisfactory living conditions for children who were living at the residence.
