A woman was charged after allegedly breaking into a south Del Rio home and attempting to pull a man out through a window, police say.
Michelle Castro, 23, was arrested at 2:38 a.m. Saturday at the 800 block of Spring Street and charged with burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit assault, a second degree felony, according to a Del Rio Police Department report.
Officer Reymundo Mendoza responded to the property for an unwanted female, Sr. Officer Dulce Gonzalez said. Castro, a resident of the 5800 block E. U.S. Hwy 90, reportedly removed an air conditioning unit from a window, reached into the home and grabbed a 25-year-old man, Gonzalez said.
“When the officer arrived, he heard yelling from the east side of the building,” Gonzalez said. “He located a female pulling on a male subject down through a window frame with her arms around his neck. The male subject was yelling at the female to let him go.”
The homeowner, Denise Kenner, told police she had warned Castro multiple times to not enter the property, Gonzalez said.
Mendoza observed visible marks on the victim’s arms and neck, Gonzalez said. The victim told police he wished to pursue charges against Castro, Gonzalez said.
Police issued a criminal trespass warning against Castro from entering the property, Gonzalez said.
Castro was booked at the Del Rio police station and brought to the Val Verde County Jail GEO corrections facility for magistration, Gonzalez said.
