A Del Rio woman was charged with child endangerment after she reportedly fell asleep while her children had access to potentially harmful medicine, police say.
Kristina Beatrice Morales, 33, was arrested at 9:26 p.m. Saturday at her Camino Del Rey apartment home, 111 Kings Way, and charged with two counts of child endangerment, a second degree felony, according to a Del Rio Police Department report.
Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Pat Cole set Morales’ bond at $10,000, according to documents on file with the magistrate’s office.
Police found Morales unresponsive in her home after she reportedly took Tylenol PM, leaving a four and a five-year-old boys unattended, said Sr. Officer Dulce Gonzalez.
“They made contact with a resident who was approached by two under-aged children stating their mother was not waking up,” Gonzalez said. “Officers made entry into the apartment for a welfare check and the woman was found unresponsive on the bed.”
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the home and revived the female, who declined further medical treatment, Gonzalez said. While speaking with Morales, officers noticed one child was holding a red pill, Gonzalez said.
“She was passed out, so she was unable to properly supervise the children,” said Gonzalez. “The child was within reach of the medicine and was not properly supervised by the female.”
Police discovered Morales also had a warrant from Uvalde County for driving while license invalid with previous convictions.
Police booked Morales at the Del Rio police station. She later was sent to the county jail.
