“What’s for Lunch?” is celebrating Culinary Arts Month with LUNCH! Bring your favorite summertime main course, side, salad or dessert and join us from noon to 1 p.m. If you’d like to share your recipe, please submit a copy to Ms. Galvan by 7/12/18. BEERS FOR BETO

The next Beers for Beto in Del Rio will be Thursday, July 19, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Blue Oasis Bar and Grill, 3806 Veterans Blvd. This monthly event is for local Beto supporters to come together and get updates on the campaign. There will also be a special video message from Beto.

NOCHES MUSICALES

The weekly live music spectacular that is Noches Musicales continues Friday with That Was Then, who will bring a wide catalog of 80’s music for folks of all ages to enjoy. The free show begins at 8:30 p.m. at Brown Plaza, 302 Cantu St. Bring your chair and enjoy!

SATURDAY

DANCE COMPANY 5K RUN/WALK

The Del Rio High School Dance Company 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place Saturday, July 21, beginning at 8 a.m. at Buena Vista Park, 1300 Kings Way. Onsite regustration will be held from 7-7:55 a.m. Fee is $25 for adults, $10 for youth ages 6-121, and kids 5 and under are free. You can also preregister for $20 with any dance company members. AARP SMART DRIVER CLASS

AARP Smart Driver Class will be held on Saturday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Room at the VVRMC (hospital) 801 Bedell. Please call 830-719-2510 to register.

MUSEUM DAYS

The Whitehead Memorial Museum, 1308 S. Main St., is hosting Museum Days every Saturday in July. That means there will be free admission to Del Rio residents, with proper ID, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This Saturday, the museum will host chalk art - a free children’s activity.

Friends of the Val Verde County Library will hold their monthly business meeting from noon to 1 p.m. in the Small Conference Room.

The Del Rio Chamber of Commerce’s July mixer will be July 26 at The Bank & Trust, 1200 Veterans Blvd., from 5 to 7 p.m.Theme is Hawaiian Luau.

MOVIE AT THE MUSEUM

The Whitehead Memorial Museum, 1308 S. Main St., will host Movie at the Museum Friday, July 27, from 8:45 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. This is a free event, but visitors should bring their own chairs. A concession stand will be available. The movie will be “Despicable Me 3”.

SWTJC STEM CAMPS

Southwest Texas Junior College is hosting free Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Youth camps in Uvalde, Crystal City, Eagle Pass, and Del Rio during July. Interested youth from the surrounding communities are invited to participate and engage in hands-on STEM activities. Youth camps for ages 9 to 11 will be held in Del Rio on July 30 and 31. Youth camps for ages 12 to 14 will be held in Del Rio on August 1 and 2. All camps will be held on the SWTJC campuses. Space is limited, and interested participants are encouraged to apply early at https://library.swtjc.edu/stem.

TOWN HALL WITH BETO O’ROURKE

There will be a town hall with Congressman Beto O’Rourke Saturday, Aug. 4, at 6 p.m. at the Plaza Hall, 405 Cantu St. O’Rourke is challenging Ted Cruz for the US Senate this November.

CHAMBER COFFEE CONNECTIONS

Whataburger, 2113 Veterans Blvd., will host Chamber Coffee Connections on Aug. 15 beginning at 8 a.m. This networking opportunity encourages Del Rio Chamber of Commerce members to inform other chamber members on what services they provide.
