MOVIE AT THE MUSEUM
The Whitehead Memorial Museum, 1308 S. Main St., will host Movie at the Museum Friday, July 27, from 8:45 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. This is a free event, but visitors should bring their own chairs. A concession stand will be available. The movie will be “Despicable Me 3”.
CARDIAC REHAB PROGRAM
Val Verde Regional Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehab program is offering a free class. Melinda Martinez, RN will present on “Diabetes and Your Heart.” You will learn about the connection between diabetes, heart disease and stroke. The Whitehead Memorial Museum, 1308 S. Main St., is hosting Museum Days every Saturday in July. That means there will be free admission to Del Rio residents, with proper ID, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
SWTJC TEEN STEM CAMPS
Southwest Texas Junior College is hosting free Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Youth camps in Uvalde, Crystal City, Eagle Pass, and Del Rio during July. Interested youth from the surrounding communities are invited to participate and engage in hands-on STEM activities. Youth camps for ages 9 to 11 will be held in Del Rio on July 30 and 31. Youth camps for ages 12 to 14 will be held in Del Rio on August 1 and 2. All camps will be held on the SWTJC campuses. Space is limited, and interested participants are encouraged to apply early at https://library.swtjc.edu/stem.
TOWN HALL WITH BETO O’ROURKE
There will be a town hall with Congressman Beto O’Rourke Saturday, Aug. 4, at 6 p.m. at the Plaza Hall, 405 Cantu St. O’Rourke is challenging Ted Cruz for the US Senate this November.
MARKET AT THE MUSEUM
The Del Rio Main Street Program presents Market at the Museum Saturday, Aug. 4, from 5 to 6 p.m., at the Whitehead Memorial Museum, 1308 S. Main St. Free admission. There will be plenty of vendors for all kinds of interested shoppers. All proceeds benefit the Del Rio Main Street Program.

LAST CHANCE FOREVER
Last Chance Forever, presented by The Bird of Prey Conservancy, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Dr. Alfredo Gutierrez Jr. Amphitheater, 1105 W. De La Rosa St. This is a free program. It is an educational opportunity to learn more about birds of prey and the role they play in the environment.
The annual Business Showcase returns Sept. 27 at the Del Rio Civic Center from noon to 5 p.m., followed by the Business After Hours Mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. This is free to the public.
SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM
The San Felipe Del Rio CISD’s annual Summer Feeding Program is underway at campuses around town. Garfield (June 12-Aug. 10) and Del Rio Freshmen School (June 12-Aug. 10) will provide breakfast and lunch free to youth ages 1 to 18. FREE TEEN FITNESS AND NUTRITION PROGRAM

SENIOR PASS SALES
Sales for the San Felipe Del Rio CISD’s Senior Passes will be held July 9 through Aug. 3, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. at the Athletic Office inside the Carl P. Guys Memorial Gymnasium at Del Rio High School. Cost is $3 for one year and $5 for two years. These athletic passes are for fans ages 55 years or older.
BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
La Vida Serena Nursing and Rehabilitation is hosting a Back to School Supply Drive to collect school supplies to be donated to local students in need. Supplies, such as pink erasers, glue sticks, safety scissors, No. 2 pencils, crayons, washable markers, highlighters, notebook paper, composition notebooks, socks, backpacks and toiletries, will be collected from July 15 to Aug. 15. TAKE A KID FISHING
The Take A Kid Fishing tournament, sponsored by the Del Rio Take A Kid Fishing, is scheduled for Sept. 1. There is no entry fee to participate in the tournament, which is open to all children between 3 and 13 years of age. Applicants must pre-register. Pre-registration applications can be obtained at Amistad Marine, Brown Automotive, Brown Nissan, Gattis Pizza, Russell Hardware, Thompson Tire and Walmart. Tickets are currently on sale for the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce’s “Big Raffle,” which will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. at the Whitehead Memorial Museum. First prize is $10,000, but there will be 20 prizes in total awarded. Only 350 tickets will be sold. Donation is $100. Tickets available at the chamber of commerce office, 1915 Veterans Blvd.

The Val Verde Community Center, 1690 Cienegas Road, is providing breast and cervical cancer services such as screenings for women ages 18 to 64. Requirements are a Texas drivers license or Texas ID, Social Security card, birth certificate, resident alien card or US passport, proof of residence and verification of all household income.

Community Council of South Central Texas will be conducting an outreach day to aid people in paying their utilities.
