July’s drawn to a close, but Noches Musicales at Del Rio’s Casa de la Cultura is far from over! A number of talented musicians rolled through the Brown Plaza every Friday for the past two months; The Mooncaps, That Was Then, and Texas Roots Revival, to name a few! The Noches Musicales summer concert series will continue for the next two Fridays, starring the Southern Exposure Band on Friday, August 10 and Los Texmaniacs on Friday, August 18! SMART DRIVER CLASS

AARP Smart Driver Class will be held Saturday in the Memorial Room of the VVRMC (Hospital), 801 Bedell. The class is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All drivers are welcome. Call 830-719-2510 to register.

DAM ROAD CLOSURE

The Amistad Dam Road at the United States Port of Entry near Del Rio will be closed all day Aug. 13-18 due to heavy duty equipment on the dam for maintenance work. Amistad Dam Road is scheduled to reopen on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m.

Last Chance Forever, presented by The Bird of Prey Conservancy, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Dr. Alfredo Gutierrez Jr. Amphitheater, 1105 W. De La Rosa St. This is a free program. It is an educational opportunity to learn more about birds of prey and the role they play in the environment.

The Del Rio Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Business Showcase. This year’s theme is “It’s a Jungle Out There!” The event will be held at the Del Rio Civic Center Thursday, Sept. 27, from noon to 5 p.m., and is free to the public. The Business After Hours Mixer will follow from 5 to 7 p.m.
